Virtue, the central category of ethics - at least since Aristotle - first spread under the Greek philosopher Plato. He coined and taught the concept of the four basic virtues, which describe the aspiration of man to become a useful person. Justice (Justitia), temperance (Temperantia), fortitude (Fortitudo) and prudence, Plato called it - prudent wisdom (Prudentia), formed the group of virtues taught to the Greek nobility since the 6th century.
The basic ethical rules spread throughout the Roman world, and the doctrine of virtue was also taught in Judaism. The Catechism expanded the four basic virtues to include three "divine virtues," faith (Fides), hope (Spes), and love (Caritas), and traces its origins to the Apostle Paul.
The combination of the four cardinal virtues and the three divine virtues still characterizes life today and stands for a person's good behavior. We live by it, no matter what religion, what kind of ancestry. Each ethnic group has its own laws, but the virtues
are always found.
